Choice Winter Hockey is an alternative option to Minnesota association hockey. It is a developmental program that focuses practice time on the individual skill development of the athlete. Athletes that love the game and are driven to improvement thrive in the environment enriched with highly competitive games including 3 tournaments.

Choice Hockey encompasses eight levels and two geographic locations within the Minneapolis/St Paul metro area. Teams are formed on the southwest side practicing primarily at the Minnesota Made Ice Center in Edina and also on the Northeast corner of the metro practicing primarily at Aldrich Arena in Woodbury.

Registrations open in March. Evaluations are held in May & June - dates below. Once each level is filled the evaluations end so it is in the best advantage of the athlete to register and evaluate early as it is not a guarantee there will be evaluations at each level each month listed. 

Evaluations  are for Squirts and Mites.

Supers will be notified if evaluations are needed.

Levels and general age range for Choice Hockey are:

• Rookies - born in 2018 & 2019
• Bronze Mites - born in 2017 &  2018
• Silver Mites - born in 2016 & 2017
• Gold Mites  - born between 7/1/15 & 12/31/16
• ​Squirts - born between 7/1/13 to 12/31/15
• Super Checking 1 - born in 2013 and 2014
• Super Checking 2 - born in 2012 and 2013
• Super Checking 3 - born in 2010, 2011 and 2012

Athletes in the leagues will be notified what time to come to skate and teams will be determined after the skate. Families will be notified by the end of the week as to what team they will skate on in the coming year.

Choice Hockey offers a comprehensive and progressive training program for Choice goalies. It is supervised by former NHL, U of M Gopher, and USA National Team member, Adam Hauser - Director of Goaltending Development.

If needed, goalie equipment is provided except for helmets, skates, and breezers.
